Beauty Close to Home

I love hiking, but there are times when it's just not possible to hit the trail. Work schedules, family obligations, and having one vehicle for our household can make it challenging.

One advantage of working from home, is the opportunity to walk my own neighborhood and capture images of all the birds close to home. The images below were taken in the last couple weeks! It is amazing what beauty is just steps away. And two of the images were snapped right from my own lanai - the yellow-billed cardinal and the mejiro!

The birds above (from right top, moving right to left each row): cattle egret, saffron finch, Northern cardinal, young ʻio (Hawaiian hawk), yellow-fronted canary, yellow-billed cardinal, common waxbill, adult ʻio (Hawaiian hawk), mejiro (warbling white eye),

Don't overlook the beauty all around you. Take the time to take a closer look. You may be surprised by what you see!
