It's a MidSummer Celebration

Updated: Jun 23, 2022

Mark your calendars for a celebration of Hawaiʻi-based artists:

MidSummer Art Celebration 5th Annual All Media Juried Exhibit

Exhibition run: Friday, June 3- Wednesday, June 29

Open House: Friday, June 3, 1 - 6:00pm.

Location: Wailoa Center, 200 Piopio St., Hilo, HI 96720

I hope you'll have a chance to drop in to see all the wonderful work by talented artists across the state. I am very excited to have four of my images in this show:

  • Honu Swimming

  • The ‘Auku‘u, Focused Fisherman

  • Mejiro Swinging on Hibiscus

  • Red-billed Leiothrix

The Hawaiʻi Island Art Alliance (HIAA), a non-profit that champions the arts, served as the show's jurors, saying, "We are artists, designers, gallerists, instructors, mentors, and supporters of the arts. We live close to the art we love. It has been an incredible honor to be on the front lines through all the numerous exhibits at the Wailoa Center. But seldom has the board taken a step forward in acting as Jury for one of those many exhibits. However, we are talking new beginnings right now. As we pick up from where we left off before the lockdowns, history and circumstance conspire in the asking of us to step forward for the Midsummer Exhibition. The members of HIAA’s board of directors are thrilled and excited to serve in this crucial capacity of Jurists. We do this with reverence and an understanding of the importance of the artist’s work, to both the artists and the local community."

It's been a great birding month - I've added a number of new images to my shop and even added a couple new species to my portfolio of birds found in Hawaiʻi! I want to find them all, but I have a long way to go - I'm happy you are along for the journey!
