Landscapes... I love looking at other peoples' beautiful work but haven't done much landscape photography myself. (I don't count using the panoramic setting on my phone or iPad.) I seldom consider shooting landscapes because I always have my long birding lens on my camera. Switching lens means that I have to carry extra gear while hiking and the weather isn't always accommodating for lens switches.
However, at the New Year, I promised to try new things (I made a resolution in this blog). So, when we hopped over to Maui, I captured some images at Haleakala National Park. My favorite was shot from the summit looking down into the valley as the morning sum started to illuminate the hillside.
I went out on a limb and entered this image in the Statewide Photographers' Juried Exhibition and was very pleasantly surprised when it was accepted.
We're headed back to Maui in a couple months for a hiking/birding trip. I look forward to capturing more landscapes in addition to birds! To motivate myself even more, I started a new collection in my shop for landscapes. One lone landscape in that collection will certainly motivate me to add more!
A hui hou!
